Local History

The Queen Anne Style Victorian house located on our property and pictured here was built by coal dealer Richard Dundon in 1893. The house has been moved twice in its existence, once from its original site on Fairfield Avenue to Hope Street and from there to its present location at Captain’s Cove in 1991. The house underwent an extensive renovation from 1991-1996.

At the restaurant, visit our main bar built around the wheelhouse of a nineteenth century tugboat. Also upstairs, suspended over the dance floor, is a 40 foot model of the R.M.S. “Titanic.” The model was meticulously crafted by the Seaport crew over the winter of 1988. Also soaring overhead is a 2” to 1’ scale model of the VS-44A “Excalibur,” the Sikorsky flying boat.
